Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister Geoffrey Onyeama has tested positive for COVID-19 and has gone on self-isolation.
Onyeama disclosed this via his twitter handle on Sunday.
“Did my fourth COVID-19 test yesterday at the first sign of a throat irritation and unfortunately, this time, it came back positive.
“That is life! Win some, loose some. Heading for isolation in a health facility and praying for the best,” he twitted.
Onyeama is a members of the country’s Presidential Task Force for COVID-19.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that all the minister’s aides have been directed to go for COVID-19 testing immediately.
Coronavirus cases in Nigeria have risen to 36,107 with 653 new infections, according to figures late Saturday from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Six new deaths were recorded in the West African nation, bringing the total to 778.
